High school is a critical period of adolescents’ self-development, as well as acritical period of gender roles awareness. Chinese subject, whose main characteristicsare instrument and humanity, plays a significant role in the mental health developmentof high school students, so the importance of Chinese textbooks is self-evident. Basedon five volumes of compulsory High School Chinese textbooks from ShandongPeople’s publisher, we found the proportion of female roles is far less than male ones,female society roles are lack of diversity, and the number of females with occupations isvery small. We would like to use more scientific Chinese textbooks to guide thedevelopment of students, so that they could learn correctly about female images, getuseful inspiration from female roles, and establish gender concept. It is beneficial notonly to the formation of students’ good interpersonal relationship, but also to thestudents’ development. In the long run, this is meaningful to the whole social progress.This thesis studied female roles based on Luren publisher’s high school textbooks,after elaborating on the status and significance of this research, we analyzed the currentteaching situation about female roles in high school Chinese textbooks through thequestionnaires and surveys from teachers and students. In the third part of the thesis, wecount the number of female characters and their social roles in the textbooks. The fourthpart of the thesis aims to tap the educational value of female images from Luren versionhigh school Chinese textbooks. In this section, female images have been summarizedinto four categories: mothers, females seeking of love, females fighting against fate andtalented females; we also analyzed their personality traits and time characteristics,focusing on exploring the value. In the fifth part, combining educational experience,pedagogy and educational psychology, we brought up some teaching strategies onbefore class, in class and after class teaching about female images, which is the focus ofthis thesis. Although many points of this thesis are not yet mature and textbook reformhas not been completed at this time,we hope it could guide students to knowthemselves correctly and establish scientific gender concepts.
