Geometry is an important part of mathematics. It not only helps improve the thinking level of students, but also helps cultivate the logical thinking ability. Many teachers of mathematics and students in different stages pay wide attention to how to improve the effectiveness of geometry teaching and learning and how to skillfully use geometry knowledge to solve problems. At present, there exist certain difficulties in teachers’teaching and students’learning of geometry. Our study is committed to resolve the problem of geometry teaching.Pierre Van Hiele and Dina Van Hiele-Geldof s geometric learning theory is one of the most influential theories in the research with regard to the research of students’geometrical thinking level and geometry teaching. Taking this theory as the theoretical basis, we can analyze the geometry thinking level and characteristics of students. And according to the Van Hiele geometrical teaching theory, we can help students learn geometry knowledge better and facilitate the development of thinking level of mathematics.Based on the literature analysis, this thesis is instructed by Van Hiele geometry learning theory, utilizing mathematical test technique, comparative study technique and statistical analysis technique to study the problems. Firstly, this article has tested ninth graders’Van Hiele geometrical thinking level by scale. Secondly, according to the Van Hiele theory, taking the first class of the similar triangle as an example, this paper uses the’Information——uided Orientation——xplication——ree Orientation——ntegration’mode to teach students. Finally, by comparing the problem sets to test method and the traditional teaching method, we can verify that the theoretical assumptions that the Van Hiele theory can guide the geometry teaching of junior middle school and get the feasible operation process as well as teaching strategy of general—promoting value. Also, it offers the effective method to help students improve the level of geometrical thinking.Research shows that The Van Hiele geometry thinking level can help teachers understand the students thinking level better; Van Hiele geometry teaching theory can effectively guide the teaching of geometry; the geometry thinking level of students can be promoted by the Van Hiele theory.
