"Learning to Learn" or "meta-learning", is a new concept of modern learning concepts, and its essence is metacognitive monitoring the performance of the learning process, is the adjustment and monitoring of learning motivation, learning style and learning result. Combine pedagogical teach students "learning to learn" is an important issue of practical significance, based on the comprehensive study at home and abroad on the meta-learning ability, this paper conducted the related research on meta-learning ability of chemical for high school students. Firstly, by studying the theory of literature meta-learning, this issue tries to define the definition of meta-learning’s ability, composition, characteristics and influencing factors. After having laid the theoretical foundations, through questionnaire survey and analysis on overall levels of chemistry meta-learning ability of high school students, findings have developed strategies for improving their chemistry meta-learning ability and try to take elements and compounds knowledge carrier as teaching experiment. Then explore concrete ways to develop, analyze meta-learning ability training strategy effectiveness.The results show high school students’meta-learning ability at the middle level where are relatively weak on planning, awareness and summative dimensions, while students of different gender and ability are also existing certain differences. The main strategy is proposed to improve the meta-learning ability of high school students, they are: Objective learning method, Non-intelligence factor adjustment method. Directly guidance of meta-learning knowledge and strategies, Heuristic teaching method, self-feedback,etc. For different characteristics of knowledge, we need to focus on different dimensions of the meta-learning ability and choose the best strategy. The main dimensions including planning, methods, feedback and summative were chosen to train in learning elements and compounds. Tactics such as strengthening prep strategy, penetration chemical organizational strategy, program of chemical basic skills training and develop self-control skills can effectively improve students’ grades in chemistry, stimulate the enthusiasm of students and improve student learning.
