The imbalance between more knowledge teaching and less affective teaching in current school education has attracted more and more attention in the education circles. However, so far there have been few academic researches on the affective teaching of elementary school children’s language acquisition in terms of the emotional aspects of teaching. This paper holds that how to mobilize the emotional attitudes of primary school students and how to further promote the learning of primary school students are supposed to be the purposes of affective teaching in elementary education.Based on "humanism" as the starting point and the theoretical guidance, this paper, according to the psychological and physiological characteristics of the students as well as the targets of affective teaching, first analyzes affection from different aspects and then discusses how to apply affective teaching to the content, organization, evaluation and environment of elementary English teaching in China. The study aims at balancing the cognitive learning and affective teaching, proposing a practicable affective teaching mode and offering some suggestions to English teachers in elementary schools.Cognition and Emotion are complementary. The researches on affective teaching can benefit the relationship between teachers and students, help teachers improve the quality of English teaching, and help learners own positive feelings, attitudes and values.
