Research And Application Of The Volley Skills About Both Top8Tennis Players In Men’s Singles And Women’s Singles Of2012

Whether a tennis tournament wonderful or not is depended on the competitiveness of a tennis player. Recently, tennis skills tend to improved as tennis players’competitiveness is up to a certain level, especially in return of service. Tennis players turn return of service to defense into to offense. At the same time, the reinforcement of the skill of back-hand and forehand makes the opponent do nothing but unmoved. Baseliner gradually becomes the main style of play among tennis players. In order to make a research on whether volley is still an aggressive weapon and a scoring skill for tennis players and whether it’s still indispensible in tennis tournaments, this article uses document research, video observation, data processing and logic analysis to dig deeper on this topic. Taking the volley skills of both top8tennis players in men’s singles and women’s singles of2012London Olympic Games for example, I made a statistical analysis on these16players’usage of volley in the competitions. The followings are the conclusions:(1) In a tennis competition, net region possesses a crucial place and net skill scoring takes a high proportion of the total. Take these top8male players’scoring for example, the proportion is14.4%, the male’s is10.2%, that is to say men’s net scoring is a little bit higher than women’s. And the total net scoring of men’s and women’s are equivalent:71.1%and70.2%.(2) Net volley skill is the main skill that a player uses in net region. From the usage, the rate of men’s is58.6%while the women’s is a little bit higher,64%. So we can conclude that net volley skill is the most common skill in net skills. From the volley-scoring rate, both the men’s and the women’s are quite high,66.2%and65.6%respectively.(3) Straight lie and oblique line are the main lines of attack. Both male players and female players get the most gain and lost mark in these two lines. So it becomes the first option for players when volleying. In addition, from the success rate, the forehand’s is higher than the back-hand’s, both for male and female players.(4) From the division of the field, volley skill applies to the situation when the player is in net region. And, the volley scoring rates of these8male players in net, midfield and bottom line are95.8%,2.1%and2,1%respectively while the female players’are61.2%,21.4%and17.5%. We can see that the net volley-scoring rate is highest but the midfield and the bottom line’s are relatively lower. Therefore, volley skill is one of the most crucial skills in tennis competition and applies to net region frequently.
