Physics is a subject based on experiments. It’s apparent that experiment plays a veryimportant role in middle school physics teaching. With the development of the society and thecurriculum reform, students’ abilities of independently exploring and innovating are paid moreattention. Thus, how to deeply introduce experiments to high school physics class, improvingstudents’ learning interest and using experiments to surmount teaching difficulties has become acrucial aspect to improve teaching qualities.First of all, this paper introduces the research background of current experiment teaching, points out some problems, and introduces further to the developments of physics experiment athome and abroad. In the second part, it studies the following six reasons of difficulties inteaching:students’ lack of knowledge background, understanding difficulty of physical conceptand knowledge, similar and easily confused physical knowledge, disturbance of previousknowledge, student’s own state of mind, teachers’ teaching methods and limitation ofexperimental instrument. Aimed at the six reasons, this paper analyses the necessity of usingexperiments to break teaching difficulties from aspects of curriculum, three-dimensionalobject and constructivism. In the third part, the paper presents the design principles and examples of using experimentsto break teaching difficulties. In the examples, it makes a breakthrough to physics teachingdifficulties by showing experiments, making group experiments, and exploring after class. In thefourth part, combined with concrete examples, this paper makes a detailed analysis on how toovercome teaching difficulties.
