With the rapid development of information, the world gradually entered a new eraof knowledge as the main feature, which triggered a more fierce competition for thetalent. Colleges and universities as the cradle of knowledge innovation and personneltraining, need to build a group of elite team with high level of teachers, thus, it isparticularly important to continuously optimize the structure of teachers. Performancemanagement as a core part in colleges and universities teacher human resourcemanagement, urgently needs to be further improved and perfected.Through analysis of the relative theory knowledge on teachers’ performancemanagement and combination the characters of universities in Shanxi province, thepaper further studied the existing problems on teachers’ performance management inShanxi universities. The writer analyses teachers’ performance management in Shanxiuniversities, especially on the system construction and scientific empirical analysis bythe five stages in the process of performance management.Firstly,In the process ofdetermining index, the writer used the method of balanced scorecardfor scientific indexconversion and then the indicators will be applied to the process of performancemanagement for teachers in S University. Secondly, the writer analyses the data fromquestionnaire by using the analytic hierarchy process and then make clear the proportionof each index. Thirdly, by calculating the qualitative indicators and quantitativeindicators of Professor A in S university through vague comprehensive evaluationapproach, the writer makes an accurate conclusion about the performance level ofProfessor A.I hope the performance appraisal system in my paper can improve performancemanagement for teachers in Shanxi universities and colleges, and further promote thedevelopment of higher education in Shanxi province.
