Objective:Using a sample of 389 elementary students and their parents,this study examined 1) the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity level、their parents’ physical activity level 、parental support and their Social-economic Status;2)the gender differences、grade diffrerences、the SES diffrernces of the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity level and parental support;3)the effect of parental support、parents’ physical activity level、Social-economic Status on the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.An accelerometer was utilized tomeasure the leisure time physical activity of the the elementary students.Quentionnaires that focused on physical activity level 、 parental support and Social-economic Status were completed by the parents.Results:Reaserch results indicated that 1)The elementary students in shanghai spent an average of18minutes/day in leisure physical activity,the average time they spent on weekday was14minutes/day,and that of weekend was 22munutes/day.Only 1.2 percent of the students met the recommendation of 60 minutes per day.and 5.5 percent of the students’ weekend physical activity met the recommendation of 60 minutes per day;Boys were more active than girls.The fifth grade students were more active than the other four grade.There was no differences between the high Social-economic Status、middle Social-economic Status and low Social-economic Status students’ leisure time physical activity;2)Mothers spent an average of 2.47 days engaged in at least 30 minutes of physical activities that make them out of breath in the last week,and that of fathers was 2.30 days.Both mothers’ and fathers’ physical activity were far less than WHO’ advice on adult physical activity.3)Mothers’ logistic support and fathers’ logistic support were active,and there is no significant differences in logistic support between fathers and mothers.Father provide more logistic support on boys and Mother provide more logistic support on girls.There was no grade differences on mothers and fathers logistic support.There was no significant SES differences of parents’.logistic support but it showed that the higher SES level has the higher parents’.logistic support.4)Fathers’ explicit modeling was higher than that of mothers’.There was no significant gender differences、grade differences of both fathers’ and mothers’ explicit modeling.There was no significant SES differences of parents’.explicit modeling but it also showed that the higher SES level has the higher parents’ explicit modeling.5)Our findings indicated that the explicit modeling of fathers and mothers,logistic support of fathers were the significant influential determinnations of the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.All among the parents’ physical activity level、parental support and Social-economic Status,only fathers’ explicit modeling ererted influnce on the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.The fathers’ explicit modeling account for 4.7% of the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.Conclusion 1) The elementary students’ leisure time physical activity was inactive and far less than 60 miuntes per day.Boys were more active than girls.The fifth grade students were more active than the other four grade.2)Mothers’ logistic support and fathers’ logistic support were active.Father provide more logistic support on boys and Mother provide more logistic support on girls.Fathers’ explicit modeling was higher than that of mothers’.it showed that the higher SES level has the higher parental support.3)The explicit modeling of fathers and mothers,logistic support of fathers were the significant influential determinnations of the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.The fathers’ explicit modeling account for 4.7% of the elementary students’ leisure time physical activity.
