Abstract/Summary:
The Test of Curriculum Standards asks teachers to instruct students to do 5-7 experiments on the condition of each school, which reflects the flexibility of this part. What’s more, this part is very suitable to those students who want to continue studying science in college or have interest in doing experiments. However,because it is a newly added content, most of the teachers never teach this part and also feel this part is hard to deal with. In addition, because of limited teaching time, low percentage of examination, many schools just ignore or deal with the part very carelessly. Thus, it loses its functions in teaching.Based on the curriculum standards of high school biology, the paper takes the first middle school of Gangu county as an example. Using document analysis and questionnaire, the paper aims to find the problems that exist in teaching practice. Finally, combing these problems and author’s teaching experience, the author proposes specific measures of elective part of high school biology.According to the questionnaire results, the research school hasn’t met the demand of this selective course, which mainly are outdated experimental equipment, sole teaching methods, lack of relevant knowledge and skills of biological technology, poor operational ability and lack of experimental evaluation. Therefore, the paper proposes the teaching methods of the first selective course, that is, updating teaching concepts, various teaching methods, optimizing experimental materials and ways, diver sity teaching evaluation. By effectively using of these strategies, the paper helps to improve students’ experimental ability and improves the development of teacher profession and,at the same time, is beneficial to application of new curriculum reform.
