Life science is indispensable in adolescents' education. Its character of creative and practical determines that Biological Science & Technology Creative and Practical Activities ( BSTCPA) are recognized by education experts.The study investigated the status of adolescents' BSTCPA in Shanghai, using literature searching, questionnaire-investigations, accessing, action research, and statistic as its methods. Then the study found the traits and requirements of BSTCPA in Shanghai. Finally some advice was given out.At first we got authoritative concepts and discussed the theories by literature researching. The paper presented the status of BSTCPA on three levels: international, domestic and in Shanghai. The researching part of this paper involves: presenting methods used in the study, and the course of investigations and their results. The whole part was divided into four subsections: students' questionnaire, teacher's questionnaire, accessing and action research. The last part of the paper is some individual standpoints and advice.The student-swatch was a random sample including 379 valid questionnaires from seven high schools in Shanghai, while the teacher's questionnaire was a half- random sample including 35 valid questionnaires from twelve high schools. Miss Cao and Mr. Wang were interviewed, both of whom work for adolescents' technology education in Shanghai Science & Technology Education Center. Another two persons be visited came from public education department in Shanghai Science & Technology Museum.Based on these investigations and researches, we summarized the development and status of BSTCPA as following: every year's consultative committee composed by experts has achieved good effect, so worth being carried forward; biology teachers participate in directing the BSTCPA much, and they can get good harvest and also honors, which suggests that the BSTCPA has a substantial basis; teachers have a better understanding on the interrelated theories in BSTCPA field. However, there are still a quarter of teachers almost ignore the theories, especially, the theories about education-aim; the recognition of BSTCPA should be enhanced; the effective forms of BSTCPA in school are Inquiry Learning and Expanding Lessons. Contrast to the ordinary high schools, key high schools have more forms of BSTCPA. But there is a shortage in BSTCPA: the disciplines are not amalgamated well, and the BSTCPA always only concentrate on part of disciplines. In after-school institution, Science& technology Popularization Activity is a more popular form, but high school students are not glad to spend much time on the activities. There are some characters in choosing study projects. For example, teachers think it a correct way to search projects adolescents interested in from their daily life. Expanded field of the teaching material and social focuses are also good resources. Integrative Practical Activity projects are often obtained from experts.
