Proposed upon the impact of cultural diversity, the present study is aboutthe effectiveness of ideological and political education towards college studentsof Shanxi province, which is considered to be not only an educational problem,but also a political issue. The effectiveness of ideological and political educationis directly related to the successfulness of Chinese characteristic socialism.However, with the rapid development of economic globalization and theimporting of western cultural thought, cultural diversity has become animportant factor that exerts influence upon various social phenomenas. In thiscontext, the college students, while being an important group of people of oursociety, are prone to be influenced by different cultures in both positive andnegative ways. Consequently, the mind-set and behavior of the youngergeneration changed under the corrosion and penetration of western decadent capitalist ideology, which in turn seriously weakens the actual effect ofideological and political education. Therefore, it is urgent to take measure toenhance the effectiveness of Ideological and political education of collegestudents in this circumstances, which possesses strong practical significance.This present thesis, which is based on the perspective of cultural diversity,combined with the current situation of ideological and political education ofcollege students in Shanxi province, via analysing the changes of various aspectsof the ideological and political education under the background of culturaldiversity, explores methods to improve the effectiveness of ideological andpolitical education. Firstly, a theory is proposed based on both the relationshipbetween the ideological and political education factors and effectiveness, and therelationship between cultural diversity and the ideological and politicaleducation. From this, we obtained the breaking point of this research as follows:the ideological and political education of educators, the students, the educationcontent and form, the educational environment. Secondly, we investigated thepresent status of ideological and political education in Shanxi Province in theperspective of deconstructing the essential components of college studentspolitical education. By analyzing the data obtained, we find that, despite greatdevelopment achieved, some problems and shortcomings still exist. For instance,most teachers are not capable of teaching with experienced educating skill andrare of them possess personality charm. Meanwhile, lack of firm ideals and royalpolitical beliefs is also observed. Another problem is that the contents of lectures and teaching methods need to be updated with more innovation andattractiveness.Thirdly, from the perspective of how cultural diversificationaffects ideological and political education, we gain certain knowledge aboutfactors influencing the effectiveness of ideological and political education.These factors are listed as follows: the knowledge structure and ability level, themind-set and behavior pattern of students, the education content and form aspect,the macro environment and micro environment. These factors can be formulatedto facilitate promoting the effectiveness of the ideological and politicaleducation. Last but not the least, seeking measures to enhance the effectivenessof ideological and political education of college students in Shanxi Province canalso root in the improvements of the following four aspects, that is: theeducational concept, the teachers’ charm, the correct orientation and practice, themethods and forms of education, the construction of network platform, and thenew way of media education. The ultimate goal of this study is to contribute tothe development of ideological and political education of college students inShanxi Province.
