Note taking is based on the information made from feelings, understanding, analyzing and formulating thoughts by expressing in words and simple sentences. Students are during the period of self-development and forming the process of self-awareness in senior high school. Learning the methods of taking class notes is good for improving the self-autonomous learning ability in developing and forming the habits of life-long learning.This thesis mainly uses the questionnaires, the tests of classroom knowledge and teachers’ and students’ interviews. Data collection is in No.1Shuo Zhou Senior High School and the165students of subjects are selected in Senior2randomly. The researcher analyzes and discusses the situation of note taking, the correlation between note taking in classroom and acquiring classroom knowledge, and the significant difference among top students, medium students and underachievers based on the strategies of note taking.The results of investigation show that students realize the importance of note taking and hold positive attitude of taking notes. However, the students can not balance listening to class and taking notes. Taking notes influences the effects of listening to class in a sense. What’s more, the students need to review and make notes frequently. The correlated analysis shows that note taking has the significant correlation to the acquiring classroom knowledge. The attitude of note taking and the patterns of note taking also have significant influence on the acquiring classroom knowledge. The One-ANOVA analyzes the significant difference among top students, medium students and underachievers.The researcher suggests the following methods of note taking for senior high school students according to the results of the data analysis.1. The students need to realize the importance of note taking and they should review and make notes regularly.2. The teachers should attach the importance of notes and leave some time to make students take notes when they design the teaching plan.3. The teachers should check and evaluate the students‘notes regularly.
