Nowadays, English teaching key point in Chinese senior high school has been shifted from examination-oriented education to cultivating students to speak English freely; therefore, oral English fluency has become an essential study object. With the popularity of the Multimedia network, the video, a kind of material constituting listening, speaking, reading and writing has given rise to educators’ concern and is gradually applied to classrooms, however, the majority of students still cannot use English which learned from the videos to communicate freely. Hence, to study which kind of videos can improve oral English fluency is worth much more than it actually was.The main content of this thesis is that teachers often prefer to use three kind of English videos aiming to practice their students’ oral English fluency. And the categories of the videos they often choose are videos with no English subtitles, videos with only English subtitles and videos with both English and Chinese subtitles. The purpose of this thesis is to find out which kind of video can greatly improve students’ speaking English fluency by doing contrast experiments on different level of students according to five measurement standards put forwards by Zhang Wenzhong, and then combining COOL PRO EDIT to assist measuring theses five measurement standards. Finally, after analyzing the results of this experiment, the thesis put forward some suggestions to both teachers and students to help them choose the appropriate videos.The results of this contrast experiments has reveled that all the English videos can improve learners’ speaking English fluency, especially the videos without subtitles. And the most obvious three main aspects the video can help English learns to improve are English phonetic appearances, increase their English corpus and mindset transformation from Chinese to English. Finally, the learning methods different level of students choose are largely determining the extent they will improve their English speaking competence.The innovation point of this paper is to measure different levels of students’ English speaking fluency though COOL PRO EDIT software,and by doing contrast experiments to find out which kind of video can greatly improve English learners’ English speaking fluency. And the most importance is that the thesis puts forward some practical suggestions to both teachers and students when they choose videos to improve speaking competence and to cultivate learns’ autonomy and to expand students’ English output to the large extent.
