The influence of mother tongue language on foreign language learning has been a hot topic on the second language acquisition research. This influence is called mother tongue transfer in second language acquisition. Linguistics think that even if the language transfer cannot explain all kinds of errors in second language acquisition, but if we don’t consider the impact of language transfer, there is no one that can clearly explain the reasons of all the errors. Language transfer mainly includes positive transfer and negative transfer. The positive transfer can promote foreign language learning, but the negative one can influence it. The study is based on the theories of contrastive analysis, error analysis and interlingua theory,these theories help further improve people’s understanding of first language transfer phenomena, thus to promote the development of foreign language teaching.Middle school students in China have already had a good command of native language knowledge and experience. At the same time, most students are still in the primary stage in second language acquisition. Their English language environment is not very good, and their vocabulary is limited, so the influence of native language on their second language acquisition is big. This influence seriously hinders the improvement of students’ foreign language level.Therefore, the author wants to analyze the errors in students’ writings from the perspective of language transfer and find out the core problem of these errors. According to the requirements of High School English Curriculum Standard on English writings, the author carried on the statistic analysis, and found that there are a lot of negative transfers in English writing, mainly includes: vocabulary, syntax, cultural habits and written expressions, etc. The research questions are:(1) What mistakes exist in the rural high school students’ English writing?(2)what kind of mistakes are caused by negative transfer of mother tongue?(3) what is the reason that negative transfer of mother tongue the writing process can cause these mistakes in high school students writings?In the process of the study, the author has read a lot of related materials, which provides a solid foundation for the research. Then, the author carefully collected the data materials and clarified the errors and explained them separately. This study tries to provide some useful teaching advice and teaching method for middle school English teaching.This study is based on the theory of contrastive analysis, error analysis and interlinguatheory. The author thoroughly analyzed the specific errors in the students’ compositions and then put forward some advices for teaching. First of all, teachers should have a correct understanding of the errors in students’ studies. Second, teachers should try to strengthen students’ basic knowledge. Third, teachers can adopt the process teaching method. Fourth,encourage students to read widely to increase language input. At last, teachers can give more exercises both in class and after class.
