The purpose of education is to help students develop the ability of creating a happy life. School as the main place of education,should provide a fair growth opportunity to each student,but numerous studies indicate that the textbook regarded as the main carrier of the course has gender bias,which resulting in a profound impact on the growth of students.With the development of feminist thoughts,countries in the world pay more and more attention to the issue of gender bias in textbooks. This study takes the current PEP Chinese textbook as the research object to explore whether there is gender bias and draw conclusions and make recommendations in the basis of analysis results.This essay consists of five parts: introduction, mainly to explain the origin, purpose and significance of the research, the status and limitations of the current research,the research object, the research tools and data processing,the research methods and ideas. The first chapter is the theoretical basis of the definition and research of related concepts and research, mainly focusing on heckling the theoretical basis of some related concepts and research papers. The second chapter is the statistical analysis of gender bias in the current Chinese textbook of PEP, primarily including activity nature,total characters and the statistic of focal point characters of illustrations in elementary textbooks,the protagonists,personality traits and career statistics of the selected textbooks.The total characters,statistic of focal point characters and personality traits of illustrations in junior textbooks,the protagonists,personality traits and career statistics of the selected textbooks.The total characters,statistic of focal point characters and personality traits of illustrations in the compulsory of high school textbooks,the protagonists,personality traits and career statistics of the selected textbooks. Finally, make a comprehensive analysis of gender bias in these three-stage Chinese textbook.The third chapter is to analyze the influence of gender bias in Chinese textbooks.Influence students in the shape of the family role, career choices, personality traits and the cultivation of thinking; investigate the reasons for the existence of gender bias in Chinese textbooks: the social history of the traditional concept, the gender awareness of textbook editors,the historical concept of the Chinese traditional literature and the traditional personality view. The fourth chapter discusses strategies about the eliminations of gender bias in Chinese textbooks, primarily including recommendations to policymakers: make the education law of gender equality, put gender equality into the vision of the national curriculum reform, put gender equality into the standards of Chinese curriculum, improve the checking standards of gender bias in textbooks; the advises to the editors of the textbooks: avoid the collective unconsciousness of gender in editors, adjust the selected text in textbooks, adjust illustrations in textbooks; advises to teachers: the gender self-view of teachers,shape the scientific concept of gender, cultivate the gender awareness of students.
