| Massive Open Online Courses(MOOC) is a web-based platform providing online course resources for thousands of participants to learn effectively and collaboratively. With the development of mobile devices and wireless networks, MOOC is widely used in the field of mobile learning in recent years, which brings the online learners more flexibility and convenience. Collaborative virtual learning community plays an important role in online learning application. It provides learners better experience during communication and decreases the sense of loneliness during online learning. In addition, teachers can offer personalized tutorial according to the characteristics of different learning communities.As the study of collaborative virtual learning community on mobile MOOC platform is still at the trial stage, there are no general methods and design patterns. We applied iPhone devices to collect learning data in real time from mobile MOOC platform developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. After analyzing the specific characteristics of mobile learning behavior, we used clustering algorithm and heterogeneous matrix algorithm to divide learners into different learning communities with homogeneity or heterogeneity. Finally, we implemented an interactive tool for learners to communicate within mobile communities on iOS platform, as well as a tool for teachers to assign personalized exercises based on the level of each learning community. |
