With the development of our teacher education and the requirement for the improvement of teacher quality, it is very necessary for us to consummate the assessment standards of teacher education. As a professional organization to assess teacher education institutions, NCATE formulated and improved teacher education certification standards, along with the social development of teacher education. At the same time, NCATE standards offer a professional judgment for teacher education institutions and teacher education program. It pointed out that not only what kind of candidates teachers should be cultivated but also formulated standards for the institutions of teacher education and other professionals.Meanwhile, it normalized resources, management, etc in the form of standards.The standards represent the core and the trends of American teacher education accreditation. It does important significance on Chinese teacher education, especially on the formulation and implementation of teacher education evaluation standards of China.This article applies the framework of national special comparative education study. The methods are: comparison method, literature analysis method, historical analysis method.Meanwhile, in line accordance with the current situation of Chinese teacher education’s assessment, the research obtains several enlightenments. First of all, this paper has carried on a brief introduction of NCATE-the certification standards agency. Then combed the historical development of NCATE accreditation standards, and analyzed the education certification standards change from two aspects: theoretical basis and the concept of teacher. Secondly, the paper summarized the main content of the NCATE accreditation standards, its has the following characteristics: Emphasize to master professional knowledge, and highlights the importance of practical experience; Focus on diversity and fairness, tolerant multicultural values; Timely adjust and embody the combination of inheritance and development;Emphasize the cooperative of teacher education, pay attention to the role of multi-factor polymerization; Emphasize the importance of moral education and pay attention to the nature of teacher candidates, etc. Later, this article from the NCATE accreditation standards promoting the standardization of the teaching standards and its effectiveness. In this paper present the historical development of NCATE accreditation standards. And analyses the causes of the change of standard from two aspects : theoretical basis and the concept of teacher education; Comprehensive NCATE accreditation standards, the paper summarizes itscharacteristics; results of NCATE accreditation standards; and analyze its causes success from the standard makers, content, implementation, management. Finally, this paper introduces the present situation of teacher education standards and its implementation in China and puts forward the enlightenment from NCATE accreditation standards.
