The Research On The Accreditation Standards Of The Council For The Accreditation Of Educator Preparation

Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation(CAEP)as the only teacher education agencies accreditor in the Unites States,it represents the core and development trend of American teacher education.And its accreditation standards play a vital role in promoting the professionalization of American teachers,improving the level of teacher training and the quality of teacher education.Based on the research of the accreditor and its accreditation standards,this paper hopes to provide suggestions for the formulation and implementation of China's teacher education accreditation.This paper mainly uses literature research method,comparative research method and historical research method.First of all,this research briefly introduces the four aspects of CAEP's predecessor,establishment background and basic concept,organization and function,and accreditation procedures.Secondly,it sorts out the historical development of American teacher agencies accreditation standards,it can be known that the reasons for the change of accreditation standards is influenced by the educational theoretical basis and the concept of teacher education in different periods.Then it focuses on the analyzes the CAEP accreditation standards from four aspects: concept and basis,connotation and dimension,revision and change,characteristics,and draws the following four characteristics of CAEP accreditation standards: highlighting “the center of outcomes”,emphasizing “evidence culture”,improving “the industry threshold”,integrating “lifelong education”.Finally,based on the reality of our country and the status quo of teacher education accreditation,will get three specific revelations and suggestions: establish a special teacher education agencies accreditor of “semi-official and semi-intermediary”,establish accreditation concept of “people-oriented and virtue-oriented ”,and appropriate reference CAEP accreditation standards.
