With the development of curriculum reform all over the country,the Minority areas is also following the pace of the new curriculum reform.Due to the low level of their education, it is difficult to achieve the requirement of the curriculum target.In view of this,taking two of the representative junior high school in Mayang Miao Autonomous county to carry out the investigation.To analyze the existing problems and find out the reasons,then put forward the Countermeasures to promote the English teaching level of the junior high school in Miao area.This thesis is mainly based on the philosophy, psychology, linguistics as the theoretical basis, taking the "basic education curriculum reform program(Trial)" and "English curriculum standard" as the policy basis.To research on the English teachers and students of the junior middle school in Miao area through the Literature research methodology, interview method, questionnaire survey.Based on the the analysis of the Survey,to find out the current exisiting problem of the English Teaching in junior high school and then find out the reason why the level of their English is low.The students’ own influence,The influence of the external environment,the influence of the textbooks,The teaching level,The educational system and evaluation mechanism,the transference of mother tongue.For these reasons, Combined with the current situation of students English learning in Minority Areas, the writer wants to give the following solutions and suggestions.we should enforce the students English basic skills and improve the students’ awareness on the importance of English.Make Efforts to create a favorable external environment,and create a favorable atmosphere to the development of middle school English teaching in Miao area, so as to guarantee the quality of the whole region of Miao students in English learning. Combine with the present condition of the middle school English teaching, then make a creative way to use the materials. In order to improve the level of English language teaching, we should strengthen the construction of the middle school English teachers in Miao area.Reform the original English exam and evaluation system, and then establish multivariate evaluation system to adapt to the current education.Focus on the integrated use of language ability and make the full use of the task-based language teaching method,to establish advanced and effective teaching methods.This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is preface.Introduce the research background and significance, the present situation of domestic and foreign research,the research objects and methods.The second chapter introduces the related concepts of junior middle school English teaching in minority areas,the national total task of English teaching in basic education stage and general requirements, the characteristics of junior high school English teaching in minority areas, the importance of improving the junior high school English teaching. The third chapter elaborates the theoretical basis of the junior high school English teaching in minority areas. The fourth chapter is the analysis of the present situation of junior high school English teaching in Mayang Miao Autonomous County. Including the design and implementation of the questionnaire, the overall situation of the junior middle school English teaching, the results of the survey and the summary of the problems. The fifth chapter is analyzing the main reason of affecting the middle school English teaching in minority area. The sixth chapter is to provide a solution on how to improve the level of junior high school English teaching in minority areas.
