The Research On Volunteers’ Motivation In The 12th Nation Games

Any successful holding of large sports events needs a lot of human resources, material resources, financial resources and other resources to support. Volunteers are important supplement for the game in the stage of preparation and holding. The service that they give to the organizing committee, athletes, referees and audience is one of the key factors to ensure the success of the event. Motivation is an important part in the process of management for the group of volunteers, which influences the effect of the volunteer work deeply.After the National People’s Congress and National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in 2013, frugality prevailed in the country. The 12 th National Games, adhering to this concept, put forward the “thrifty games” slogan; therefore, the motivation work of volunteers is facing new challenges, due to the uniqueness of volunteers’ roles and profession features. The volunteers’ work is accepted generally by the event organizers, participants and audience. It makes great contribution to the successful holding of the games. There are still some problems in the serving process, such as the negative attitude of volunteers, lack of enthusiasm and unreasonable withdrawal in the halfway.This thesis uses literature method, interview method, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics and other research methods. It, based on the analysis of volunteer motivation methods, motivation effects and influencing factors in the 12 th National Games, studies the successful experience and existing problems in volunteer motivation. And it gives some suggestions on the inadequate motivation consideration of volunteers, the lacking reasonable basis of motivation ways, the administration and the lack of reasonable motivation methods. The suggestions are as follows: volunteers’ service passion should be inspired; the reasonable evaluation system of volunteers should be established; socialized volunteer motivation forms should be introduced; volunteer motivation ways should be expanded. The thesis, taking the related research achievements of motivation as theory supporting, makes a volunteer motivation model for the 12 th National Games on the practical base of volunteer motivation in the 12 th National Games. It aims to provide some references for the theory research and practical exploration of the volunteer motivation in large sports events.
