| As we all know, teaching assessment has got very important meaning and status during the period of teaching process for its reacting function. Generally speaking, the students of secondary vocational schools are lack of study interest. Therefore the function of teaching assessment is more important. However the actual effect of the implementation of formative assessment in vocational schools is not good as predicted.The author chooses 30 students majoring in Hotel Management and Service as the study subjects under the above background. At the beginning of the new term the author offers a test for target students and records their pre-test scores. Then the students are taught with formative assessment for the whole term. What’s more, the author chooses several students to participate in the focus-group interviews frequently in order to know their study motivation. At the end of the new term the author offers another test to the target students and records their post-test scores. Next the author makes a comparison between the scores of the two tests and analyzes the influential factors for the change of the target students’ study motivation. Furthermore, the author offers a questionnaire for the target students at the end of the new term in order to know the change of their study motivation.The author has got the following conclusions through the research: firstly, students’ performance in English tests has been improved greatly with the implementation of formative assessment but with variation. Secondly, more vivid pictures and professional situations will make such assessment more effective. Thirdly, the factor of teachers is an important factor influencing the change of students’ study motivation.The writer aimed at revealing problems and reasons of the implementation of formative assessment at present. Besides, the author also tries to present suggestion through investigation results and various data of the research. Therefore he may help to break through the present difficulties of formative assessment teaching in new ways. |
