Jindongnan Normal School for Kindergarten Teachers is the only normal school for training preschool teachers in southeast of Shanxi, bearing a responsibility to train qualified preschool teachers for the whole region. Piano course is an important professional skill course in the school for many years, aiming at training qualified preschool teachers who are good at playing and singing, and are competent to the music teaching activities in kindergartens.For many years, the content of piano teaching in Jindongnan Normal School for Kindergarten Teachers has a high level of specialization, and the skill of playing the piano is excessive required. On the other hand, the students in the school are mostly gratuated from Junior middle schools in rural areas, and most of them have never learned the piano before. So the teachers have great difficulties in piano teaching when they use the materials--Piano published by People’s music publishing house. In recent years, there are a lot of new children’s songs added in the materials used in kindergartens, so it is an important problem to be solved how to combine the piano class in normal schools and the music class in kindergartens.This study aims at the content and the methods of the piano teaching in Jindongnan Normal School for Kindergarten Teachers, identifying problems, analyzing the reasons and proposing appropriate countermeasures. In the study, questionnaire and interview are adopted. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is Introduction, including research significance, research background, and research methods. The second chapter is the body of the thesis, including three parts-- present situation investigation; problems in teaching content and countermeasures; problems in teaching methods and countermeasures. The third charter is Conclusion: the teaching content in the normal school for kindergarten teachers should reflect the demands of the music teaching in kindergartens; the piano group teaching is the mainly teaching method and a variety of other teaching methods are also necessary.
