The Study On The Social Support Of New Citizens Born After 1990s

Since China’s reform and opening up, the pace of industrialization and urbanization are growing.The configuration of human resources presents a trend of intensive and liquidity.Migrant workers occupy most of flowing labor force.Along with the social public opinion attention and tolerance,"migrant workers" and "alien workers" appellation are gradually replaced by the "new citizens"."90 after" new citizens have become ignorable main force of the future urbanization. They hunt for job in the city holding the dream to settle down and meet the basic survival needs. A lot of problems arise while integrating, which are to a large degree rooted in the imperfective social supportive system. Then, what characteristics and problems do the social support of the "90 after" present? How to build a positive social support system more effectively?With these questions, this study attempts to do practical research on the social support situation and basic survival condition of "90 after" new citizens in H town, Jiangyin City. And discusses the factors influencing social support, points out the feasibility opinions of building positive social support system.Related departments may get some references via the research, which helps to get a full knowledge of this community.In order to carry out the research,400 questionnaires had been sent out and 357 questionnaires had been actually recycled that the effective rate of questionnaire investigation was 89.25 percent.The research found that:(1)the survival condition of new citizens after 90s included four different parts:house conditions,employment,social insurance conditions,and spiritual living conditions.Generally speaking,their life satisfaction evaluation was rather low and their life adaptation was not high yet in the inflow.At the same time,the economic difficulty and non-economic difficulty was both existed and their non-economic obstacles took a bigger part.(2)the social support of new citizens after 90s mainly came from family,community,enterprise and government which could be divided into economic support and non-economic support based on their content division.The research showed that the overall social support of new citizens was not optimistic that the support was generally at a level below average except of the family support.The life satisfaction of new citizens had a significant positive correlation with unit support,government support and non-economic support.The evaluation of the life satisfaction of new citizens was greatly influenced by the unit,government, and other social support conditions in the inflow.(3) In the various individual factors of new citizens,the age factor presented a significant positive correlation with non-economic support,the gender factor presented a negative correlation with family support and a positive correlation with group support and government support.The cultural level is positively correlated with government support and economic support and negatively correlated with non-economic support.The profession factor and unit support with government support was negatively correlated,and positively correlated with group support and non-economic support.The years of working is generally correlated with family support,group support,unit support,government support,economic support and non-economic support. Social factors as institutional policy and social inclusion degree also affect the"90 after" new citizens’ social support.(4) There are also existed lots of problems in the social support of new citizens.The government pay much more attention to draw up guided policies while carrying out less specific implementation and supervision and provided more economic support but less spiritual support.The community is just superficial and lack of actual content because of its little connection with new citizens and its simplex service even lack of spiritual support.The social support came from enterprise gave a different eye on new citizens and was in a shortage of non-economic support.In order to improve the level of social support of new citizens,the government should formulate new policies based on their requirement and cooperate and supervise with each other through constantly communication with new citizens.The community need to fulfill its function and create new working methods to mobilize community resources so that it can provide much more efficient and better support for new citizens.The company can provide more spiritual support and integrate into methods of social work in the process.The function of formal organization should be played,and make a difference between different nature of the informal groups.For new citizens themselves,they need to establish their subjective status and promote their self quality in order to gain more social support.
