In this paper, on the basis of Michael Lewis’chunk theories, the author will explore the application of lexical-chunk theories to the practice of senior high school English teaching design and the concrete teaching methods about lexical-chunks by analyzing the teaching material Senior High English Module 1 and classifying the appeared lexical-chunks. Then with a teaching case, take Unit2-Lesson 2 History Makers as an example, the teaching concept of lexical-chunks will be embodied in the process of teaching.The thesis consists of three chapters:Chapter one is the theoretical discussion on lexical-chunks and senior high school English teaching design. It summarizes studies on lexical-chunks abroad and at home. It also makes a summary of senior high English teaching design, which includes definition of teaching design, major studies on teaching design abroad and at home and some basic concepts and principles of Senior High English teaching. It gives a simple introduction about Michael Lewis’Lexical Approach as well.Chapter two is about the teaching design of Senior High English based on Chunk Theory, and it is the main part of the thesis. It explores the possibility to combine the chunk theories with practical teaching. It discusses the scope of teaching design analysis, principles of teaching design based on Chunk Theory, some teaching strategies of lexical-chunks and a teaching case based on Chunk Theory, which takes Senior High English Module 1 Unit2-Lesson 2 History Makers as an example to put theories into practice.Chapter three is assessment and suggestion of teaching design. The assessment part includes features of teaching design, feedback from teachers and students, shortage and outlook of such teaching design. The suggestion part includes some implications for better teaching.
