Subjects of this paper involve parents whose children are already players as well as those whose children do not participate in any soccer training. By various means including literature, questionnaires, interviews, statistics, and comparative analysis, conclusions are discreetly drawn from feedbacks from parents, coaches, experts, and government executives. Conclusions are as followed:Internal reasons for soccer training include interests, expected effect on physical exercise, and talent, which, to great extent, influence the decision for parents to support their children to receive soccer training. External reasons for soccer training include academic performance, chances to enter professional soccer league, bonus mark for soccer students applying for college, revolutionary policies for soccer development and school’s support. Internal reasons against soccer training include lack of interest from parents or children, lack of talent, unsatisfactory physical condition, and economic burden. External reasons against soccer training include concerns for academic performance (which most parents hold the opinion that at present, schools cannot balance training and studying for their children), disapproval for children to become professionals, concerns for physical wellbeing (eg. injuries and accidents), underdeveloped environment and policies for campus soccer, lack of licensed coaches, negative public opinion on Chinese soccer, and disqualified training fields.
