Network teaching is a new exploratory area in English teaching reform. Many scholars at home and abroad have studied this issue, and have made certain achievements, particularly in college English network teaching. However, there are few researches on Middle school English network teaching, after the author analyzes researches about English network teaching. Therefore, further researches on Middle school English network teaching are needed. From the cognitive perspective, the process of English learning mainly involves in language input and output. English writing has always been regarded as an output skill, and it aims to cultivate students’ comprehensive language abilities. Thus, writing occupies a very important position in English teaching. Traditional writing classes are teacher-centered, that is teachers show students model compositions before they finish their own works independently. In the process of traditional writing classes, few interaction has existed. What’s more, students are not interested in English writing, and ways of evaluating writing are monotonous and outdated. Consequently, students don’t get systematic training in English writing.This paper aims at reforming traditional writing classes by introducing network technologies into teaching English writing. Case-based teaching is implemented to explore the effective way of online writing teaching, which aims at raising students’ writing abilities.This paper is based on Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, Ausubel’s Learning Theory and Swain’s Output Hypothesis. Meanwhile, the author resorts to practical teaching in Jiangjin Experimental Middle School. Two classes in Grade Eight are chosen to be involved in this research. Online QQ Groups are the tools, and also the author adopts Writing Processes to design the real classes which last for one semester. Finally, the general findings are: network teaching in writing is practical and operable, which breaks the limitation in time and space, and cultivate students’ self-dependent learning abilities and interests in English writing. The author also puts forward following suggestions: teachers should develop their personal qualities, and transform their traditional teaching notions into student-centered teaching notions. Meanwhile, classes should be customized, diversified teaching methods should be applied to make sure the teaching quality of online writing teaching. From the feedback of teachers, it is clear that diversified ways of evaluation can facilitate students’ cooperative awareness, and systematic training can improve students’ writing abilities. With the development of internet technologies, the era of “internet +” is coming, so network teaching is a spreading trend in the future.
