During the early period of the Republic of China, the thoughts of western democracy and freedom constantly made much impact in China. At the same time, they brought Chinese education a new concept "self-government".thus, The students began to set up various student-organizations, In actual operation, students groups took the name of "self-government", gradually participating in school management, but for its fierce of behavior the student were blamed for "interference school political", lacking of discussion on its participation of actual effect. This paper select Tsinghua and its students as research object, detail school management of major event involved with students. In my study, thoroughly examining their participatory process and results, summarizing ways and characteristics, then exploring the boundaries, I hold that student participation in Tsinghua effectively promoted the development of the university in the early period of the Republic of China. |
