With the accelerating development of industrialization and urbanization, a large number of migrant workers poured into the city, which also ushered in a lot of migrant children, who encountered a series of problems in the new context. However, the author finds that this group is also facing the problem of emotional neglect in practice.which will cause negative effects on the growth of migrant children. For the children that the author contacted with were all in school age, the author defines the object of this paper as school-age migrant children, hoping to help these children have a more harmonious parent-child relationship, more friendly family environment through the professional intervention of social work.In this paper, the author introduces the research background, discusses the research significance, defines the concept of the school-age migrant children and the emotional neglect, indicates the object of study, describes the research methods at first. By reviewing the literature, the author finds that current researches of social work focus more on the problem of social mobility for children, rarely refer to the problem of emotional neglect of migrant children. Besides, the author presents characteristics of the emotional neglect that the migrant children are facing in F Community, including little parent-child interacting time, low frequency conversation, single communication contents, limit concerns about children, neglecting the emotional needs when they talk, extreme way of education, having one-sided view of children, etc. Meanwhile, the author understands the causes of the phenomenon is that floating children got less concern from the society, community and social organizations’propaganda had poor publicity effect, schools lacked emotional education and family members had poor interaction and so on. After that, the author realizes the problem has caused some consequences to children, such as affects the formation of children’s sound personality, do some harm to children’s body, leads to children hating home. Of course, the author also studies the existing intervention strategies for this problem in F community.According to the present situation’s analysis, the author emphatically discusses how to intervene the problem from the perspective of social work, use case work method to help three cases, adapt social work team working method to organize resilience group and parent-child interaction group. In the author’s opinion, three cases’situations are not the same, but we all could help them by home visiting. Though two teams are also different, their purpose is to help children and parents to restore the appropriate relationship. Afterwards, the author evaluates the above services, hoping to mitigate this problem through the efforts noted above. In addition, the author thinks that it also need the efforts from community, government, social organizations and schools. Firstly,The community should strengthen the propaganda about child neglect, establish community volunteer service organizations, open community children hotline service, promote more family services, popularize the knowledge of family education. Secondly. The government ought to strengthen the publicity and the implementation of child-protection legislation, introduce the policy for the protection of migrant children, pay more attention to the floating population, strengthen capital investment.Thirdly, social organizations can mobilize resources, call attention and provide funding to help the children.Fourthly, schools can set the emotional education courses, concern school and family interaction, focus on the training for teachers.
