The Enlightment Of Yuanpei Cai’s Education Thoughts To The Contemporary Moral Education In University

Yuanpei Cai was a great educator, thinker and democratic reformer in themodern history of China. His educational thoughts are regarded as valuable culture relics. China’s modern history was a history of humiliation. During this time, China was beset by troubles and difficulties, internally and externally. As a result, Chinese people suffered from this corrupting country, physically and psychologically. During this period of time, Yuanpei Cai learned advanced thoughts from western country as well as explored the best part of Chinese traditional culture. The core of his educational thoughts was "Fusion and Inclusiveness of Western and Eastern thoughts" which positively influenced the exploration and practice of Chinese moral education. The focus of this dissertation is the enlightment of his education thoughts to the contemporary moral education in university. The writer tries to do thorough research of following questions. First, the writer tries to research the creation background of Yuanpei Cai’s education thoughts by analysis of the collision of western and eastern thoughts, transformation of Chinese society, external and internal problems of Chinese modern history. Second, the writer uses systematic approach to analyze his education thoughts. Third, through surveys and data analysis, the writer will summarize the current situation of contemporary university moral education and existing problems. On the basis of the survey results, the writer will come up with reasonable solutions. Finally, on the basis of research, the writer will tell readers what education lesson they can learn. Recently, with the implementation of market economic system, utilitarianism becomes increasingly popular in university. Therefore, we should know clearly that the major function of university is to promote the all-round development of human and students’ personalities. And the university education should aim at pursuing truth and cultivating noble personalities as well as guiding the social values. At the same time, the writer tries to provide theoretical support and practical methods by establishing new moral education thought-integrity of moral and intellect, perfecting the creative moral education system, creating open atmosphere of moral education and applying good theoretical moral education into practice.
