Research On Moral Education Thought Of Cai Yuanpei

As a basic project for the scientific development of education,moral education has always been highly valued by the Party and the state.It has always been an important content of ideological and political education to excavate excellent moral education resources in history for the present,which has outstanding value and significance for strengthening cultural self-confidence and practicing socialist core values.In the critical period of modern China’s national crisis,Cai Yuanpei resolutely chose education as the practical cornerstone,hoping to change the social outlook and promote national rejuvenation by fosterting talent through general learning.Based on the foundation of traditional Chinese studies,with the western "freedom,equality and fraternity" as the important spiritual nourishment,he put forward the unique new concept of moral education,and built a complete ideological system of moral education,including: "civic moral education as the backbone" "the foundation of moral education is self-cultivation" "both public morality and private morality cultivation" "aesthetic education for the completion of moral education",and "educating the good people of the country",which were used to guide the construction of national morality.In the practice,he broke through the old " utilization of west in Chinese form " personnel training mode,emphasized the cultivation of republic citizens,took "civic moral education" as the backbone,and implemented the educational policies of harmonious development of individual character which laid equal emphasis on the Five Disciplines.In the the Five Disciplines,Caiyuanpei emphatically explored the method of aesthetic education "promoting the completion of moral education ",because he expected that aesthetic education can stimulate and purify people’s moral feelings,promote people’s moral understanding,improve people’s moral behavior.Standing on the height of "cultivating the good people of the country",he pointed out that moral education is an important means to improve individual moral cultivation and form the "complete personality" of the people.Therefore,the cultivation of virtue and the integrity of personality should be considered comprehensively,and the connotation of moral cultivation should be based on both "public and private virtue".Based on this,the development of moral education can be presented in three ways: family education,school education,and social education.From the perspective of moral education concept,Cai Yuanpei’s views of simultaneous development of five educations which " take civic moral education as the backbone" provide important inspiration for understanding the relationship between moral education and quality education correctly in the new era,and solving the problem of "what kind of people to train and how to train people".The people-oriented concept of "respecting nature and developing individuality" provides an important prerequisite for the cultivation of innovative talents in the new era.The concept of choosing and following what is good conduces to transformation of tradition to modern,the integration of Chinese and western moral factors,thereby constructing the moral system that is suitable for the development of the new era.Learning the content of Cai Yuanpei’s moral education,We should start from private morality,"cultivate both public and private morality",which conform to the objective laws of young people’s growth and ideological and moral cultivation,cultivate the great virtue of loving one’s country and people,the public virtue of honesty and friendliness,and the private virtue of self-restraint and treading lightly,help young people to internalize the spirit of patriotism in the heart and action.Cai Yuanpei’s moral education method by learning to promote morality,established the awareness of lifelong learning and lifelong moral cultivation for contemporary young people,and made moral education deeply rooted in life.We should take practice as the key,so that moral education was deeply rooted in life.The method of cultivating virtue with aesthetic education should effectively run through the family,school and social education,which urge people to cultivate their sentiments in subtle ways and shape correct moral behavior.
