With the rapid advance of urbanization, population is flowing to cities to seek survival and development has become a major trend. Chongqing as a municipality and large city, and its huge development potential has attracted a large number of inter-district and inter-provincial inter migrants into the city. Immigrants in importance across different regions of the city into the situation, is effectively resolve social conflicts, maintain the important task of social harmony and stability.Firstly, through analysing the literature, determining push-pull theory herding behavior theory and social exclusion theory as support, using the literature review, empirical research, comparative research as a research method.I defined the concept of immigrants, assimilation and identity. Secondly, I did comparative study by analyzing the date of immigrant from inside and outside of Chongqing in 2013. I also did descriptive analysis from individual characteristics, population employment, income and expenditure, security status, identity, social participation and residing preference analyze immgrants’ current situation.Thirdly,by using SPSS17.0,I analyze the factors of impacting the immigrants’ identities, icluding individual characteristics, work status, cultural backgrounds, social participation, residing preference and social security. The results are shown as below: education, marital status, work experiences, use of local accent and residing preference are the impacting factors of the identities of immigrants;the interprovincial immigrants’ income becomes a significant influence because of the impacts of residing preference and social security; the interprovincial immigrants’ attitude of making friends with the locals towards significant under the impact of the residential; the nature of the workplace and community involvement are the factors of which impact immigrants’ identities;participating in the election has effect on the interprovincial immigrants’ identities; gender, age, attitude towards intermarriage and making friends with the local do not have any effect on the immigrants’ identities.Bythe empirical analysis, there are many common problems of assimilation of the immigrants:less competitive employbility; lack of urban identity; facing tremendous pressure to purchase house. Personality problems:the proportion of insured rate and the social participation of provincial immigrants are both less on interprovincial immigrants.Unstable work more likely weakens the interprovincial immigrants’ assimilation. It is supposed to take measures as followed: improve competitiveness of immigrants’ employability;explore diversified housing security system;resolve provincial immigrants’ pension transfer problems;enhance the approving and acceptance of urban residents on immigrants;enhance immigrants’ social participation;and reform differentiated household registration system.
