Since the reform and opening-up policy, China’s economy has increased dramatically, and as is in the case with the education in the direction of international development, which has more frequent international exchanges of higher education. Higher education international exchange frequently displays in two aspects:on the one hand, China has become the largest source nation of international students; on the other hand, the number of foreign master students studying in China continues to increase. With the enhancement of its international influence and soft power, China receives unprecedented number of international students. In recent years, the Chinese government has greatly increased its quota of scholarship for international students, ensuring them a better living condition in order to attract foreign students to study in China. Meanwhile, Chinese leaders attach great importance to the affairs of the international students, making it an opportunity to enhance China’s soft power and create a favorable international environment for its development. Yunnan province, as the gateway of China to South Asia and Southeast Asia, not only exports Chinese students studying abroad, but also absorbs international students studying in China. Yunnan University, the only national key university (known as the "211 project" university)in the Yunnan province, has received 15,000 international students and teachers who teach Chinese as a foreign language from 30 counties and areas since 1986, ranking the top place in the total numbers of receiving international students in Yunnan province. Compared with the domestic students of Yunnan University, foreign students are those people who are a bit different from Chinese students. They belong to a special group. Their way of life and learning is different from the Chinese students, thus the attention and help they need differ from Chinese students as well.This thesis takes the Yunnan University foreign master students as the research object, aims to investigate learning harvest of the foreign master students during their study time by using comprehensive use of the literature research method, questionnaire analysis method, interviews as well as statistics analysis method. In addition, this thesis also attempts to understand their current learning achievements and existing problems of international student in the Yunnan University and to find out the reasons which impact on their learning gains obtained. Through these investigations, the thesis comes to the conclusion that the majority of foreign master students are satisfied with their learning harvest in general. However, due to the different personal learning ways. those students have different learning impacts. Thus, the results of their learning harvest vary from each other. In the survey of the following four elements, namely the professional harvest, language harvest, culture harvest and emotional experience harvest, the writer found that emotional experience harvest which refers to the improvement of their friends harvest and communicative competence is much better than the other three ones. Secondly is the language and culture harvest, which means that professional harvest is worse than the other three gains. What’s more, this research found that the main results have something to do with teachers’professional qualities, their intercultural methods as well as school’s management and intercultural atmosphere. Through further research on learning environment satisfaction of foreign students, this thesis also found that their satisfaction in other aspects were relatively low. Via the overall learning harvest and environmental factors correlation analysis, this thesis also found that teachers’ professional quality, curriculum, teacher’s culture teaching methods, management of schools and schools in academic and cultural atmosphere and other factors and study abroad students learning gains obtained are of greater relevance. Therefore, in view of the students learning harvest significantly or critical influences of environmental factors, the author will propose some suggestions and strategies from the levels of culture, teaching and the management, in the hope that through these specific recommendations to improve student learning harvest.
