Buoyancy is the basic knowledge in hydrostatics which is widely used in daily life. It’s also an important part of Physics in Junior high school. The knowledge students acquired in junior high school is based upon buoyancy, focused on Archimedes principle and presented in floating up and down. Most students are quite interested in buoyancy. However, they think it is difficult to learn this part. And this part is watershed of Junior high school students’ learning in Physics. This author first researched the existent curriculum criterion and the buoyancy part in the teaching material, especially about the changes in the curriculum objective of the buoyancy part. Then the author carried out the survey about students’ learning of buoyancy part, the difficulty they meet and teachers’ teaching. Teaching difficult points and important points are fixed according to the result of the survey. After that, the author analyzed the main causes of students’ difficulty in learning and come up with some teaching strategies. At last, the author applied the teaching strategies in teaching and the result showed that these strategies are feasible and effective. The author hopes that the research can be of some help to the teaching of the junior school Physics teachers and the compilation of teaching materials and reference materials used in teaching.
