With the rapid promotion of computer technology and network, our lifestyle and learning habit have changed. Because of the widely use of modern educational technology in teaching and learning, a variety of multimedia auxiliary teaching resources spring up. One of the most widely accepted auxiliary teaching resources among the students is instructional video. Instructional video meet the needs of fragmentary and micro learning which is so popular today. Students can learn something whenever or wherever they want. It also makes teaching more flexible and interesting. A large number of studies have shown that instructional videos promote students learning effects. Different types of instructional videos make the difference of the learning effects of students, varying degrees. The researchers found that when using learning strategies in instruction, there will be a significant promotion in students’ performance. However, very few studies are on the impact of instructional video which based on learning strategies. In this study, with a review of the relevant literature, the writer selected some common learning strategies, situation strategy, signaling strategy and conclusion strategy. Then associate the actual teaching arrangement with the three strategies to develop different instructional videos. The writer developed four videos in total:one video with no strategy, one with situation strategy, one with signaling strategy and one with conclusion strategy. To figure out whether these videos influence students’ learning effects, the writer carried out a quasi-experimental research in NO.1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal University, four tenth grade classes. And proposed that:instructional videos with learning strategies can promote students’ performance; different types of instructional videos do have different effects in learning declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge; they can affect students’satisfaction and the cognitive load.Experimental results showed that, (1) instructional videos with learning strategies do promote students’performance; (2) instructional videos with signaling strategy achieved the best declarative knowledge learning performance, followed by situational strategy instructional videos, conclusion strategy videos; video with conclusion strategy achieved the best procedural knowledge learning performance, followed by signaling strategy instructional videos, situational strategy videos; (3) however, there’s no significant effect on the satisfaction and cognitive load.
