With the globalization of education, comparative education is gradually developing into a new field of science, and the international comparison is of great significance to the improvement of educational system and educational model. The physical education is the main position of science education and public scientific literacy improvement in the new century. How to make the physics knowledge system better accepted by the students is more and more concerned by the majority of education scholars. On the other hand, the physics teaching materials directly determine what knowledge for the students to learn, what ability to get and what kind of ideological education to accept. In order to adapt to the development of modern education mode and cultivate the talents needed by socialism, it is necessary for us to learn and absorb the advantages of the developed countries in the compilation of textbook. Therefore, this thesis makes a comparative study of junior high school physics textbooks in China and Britain.In 2013 the Ministry of education of the People’s Republic of China issued new physics textbook for the junior high school in accordance with the new curriculum standard (2011 Edition). In 2014 the Cambridge International Examinations also published the second edition IGCSE physics course book for the junior high school. This thesis selects junior high school physics textbooks in China and United Kingdom as comparative sample, then analyzed and compared in terms of the structure and contents of teaching materials on the basis of comparison of the two curriculum standards.This study found that the two textbooks have their own characteristics and IGCSE course book has optional and the required contents, it has higher requirements for the breadth and depth of knowledge.so it can avoid the reconstruction of knowledge during the deeper study of physics, and physics scenarios are designed to be more close to life and more subtle emphasis the application of physical knowledge. And the teaching materials of our country is fully taken into account the cognitive level of the students, pay attention to let students experience the process of scientific inquiry, and to learn the thinking methods of physics.The thesis mainly includes five parts:the first part is the introduction, mainly introduces the background, purpose and significance, research ideas and methods of the research; the second part of the paper analyzed and compared physics curriculum standard of the two countries; the third part compared the structure of teaching materials, mainly compared the overall structure and column of teaching materials; the fourth part is the main part of this paper, makes a detailed comparison of textbook content according to these topics:general physics, thermal physics, electricity and magnetism, physics of wave, and so on, then the experiment and enquiry were compared; the last part gives a summary of the full paper, some suggestions are put forward to the editor, as well as the learners and teachers.
