A Research On The Function And Its Relevant Factors Of National College Culture On The Basis Of Cognition

National college culture is a multi-culture, and its structure function shows uniqueness, which has its own advantages in enlightening and shaping students’ creative thinking and cultivation of innovative talents. The influence of college culture on students is achieved by a series of individual perceptual processing, and the perceived college culture is the key part, which is a psychological variable, the interactive result of individual characteristics and college environment. Researching on function and cognition of national college culture and focusing on individual consciousness and its difference of national college culture from the micro level, which has great significance in broadening college culture research perspective, at the same time, provides practical evidence for universities education managers and front-line teachers.Considering the limitations of qualitative descriptions of college culture research in the past, by the method of combining quantization and quality, this study investigated 626 undergraduate students in Northwest University for Nationalities, as an example. College culture can’t make effects without students’ subjective feelings. From material culture, spiritual culture and institutional culture dimensions, this paper makes a preliminary exploration of cognition about college culture and its functions by the Questionnaire of College Culture (internal consistency coefficient is 0.931), and focus college students’group interviews.The results showed that, generally, there was no significant difference in campus cultural cognition between college students, but, on the system of cultural cognition, the girls’ scores were significantly higher than boys. There was a significant difference in total points of spiritual culture, institutional culture and campus culture among different grades. On the scores of college cultural cognition, the freshman was followed by the sophomore and junior.In terms of relevant factors of national college culture, the paper made a sampling survey of college students’ participation in campus activities and their reception of factors of influencing innovative thinking cultivation. The study analyzed the relationship between college students’creativity, sense of innovation competence and college culture cognition, and the influence of relationship between campus culture and core values on alma mater. Results showed that,39.2% of the students did not take part in any college communities, and 60.8% of students at least one community. About 41.3% of college students thought that a graceful and harmonious natural environment was quite important for innovative thinking,21.1% for participating in competitions of science and technology and 26.1% for social practice. There was a significant positive correlation (P<0.01) between cognition of campus culture and students’ creativity, while students’ creativity did not show significant correlation (P> 0.05) with sense of innovation competence. College students’ creativity, generally, was highly significant correlation (P< 0.01) with cognition of material culture and institutional culture, and significant correlation with the spiritual culture (P< 0.05). In the factors of college students’ creativity, there is a highly significant correlation (P< 0.01) between adventure and cognition of college culture. However, curiosity was positive correlations (P< 0.05) with cognition of college culture. Taking creativity as the dependent variable, the environment of college culture and college students’ core values as the independent variable, the paper made a multiple linear regression analysis of the research. We found that there was 10.2% contribution between environment of college culture and college students’ core values, therefore, both of them played a common role in cultivating college students’ creativity. In the factors of environment of college culture, both of cultural environment and relevant environmental factors of creative thinking played a key role. In core values of college students, the cognitive factor and behavior factor also play a key role.Based on the above results, as a case of Northwest University for Nationalities, the author analyzed the culture systems in colleges, and made some suggestions about college culture Innovative construction in national colleges. The author hoped that national colleges should make efforts in setting up environment benefiting for high-quality innovative talents and try to build up a college culture system, which is titled as "one theme, two principal lines, three channels, four platforms".
