In order to study present situation of rural junior middle school sports teaching in Jishou City, this paper uses the methods of literature, questionnaire, interview and data statistics, the Jishou city 10 township middle school students, teachers and school leaders in charge of school physical education teaching status and problems of sports were investigated and analyzed, mainly including sports the teaching of PE teachers of junior middle school teachers, rural schools, the school sports teaching facilities and material environment and other aspects, find out the problems restricting development of teaching in rural junior high school sports in Jishou city and put forward the improvement suggestions, enhance process management and scientific management of physical education, promote the rural junior middle school sports teaching for education reform, and comprehensively improve the quality of compulsory education to provide reference for decision making.Through the design of questionnaire, conduct a comprehensive and systematic and direct investigation of Jishou city 10 Township junior middle school sports teaching, draws the following conclusion: the township middle school, Jishou City, 1 male teachers than female PE teachers, PE teachers are younger, age structure and professional title structure of teachers is relatively reasonable, the number of training few teachers, most teachers have no awareness of scientific research; 2, according to the relevant provisions of the state offer physical education for school leadership is in accordance with the teaching plan and lesson teaching requirements are not strict; the lack of sports theory class arrangement; 3, physical education funding, lack of sports venues, sports facilities lack of 4 sports teaching content; the traditional, single teaching method, extracurricular sports activities is not enough.In view of the above results, put forward improving Jishou City, town and township junior middle school sports teaching present situation countermeasures and suggestions: increase physical education funding, venues and equipment improvement; pay attention to teacher training, strengthen teachers’ Continuing Education and comprehensive quality raise; effective use of local ethnic traditional sports resources, adjust measures to local conditions of choosing teaching content of PE. Change the idea, make full use of after-school sports activities to make up for the lack of classroom teaching, improve the effect of classroom teaching, the sports activities in the form of diversity, attract more students to actively participate in, to cultivate students’ interest, to improve the physical quality of the students.
