Comparison Of Colleges And Universities’ Capacities Of Basic Research On Medical Disciplines In The Six Provinces Of Mid China

Medical development plays a vital role in the progress of human society and the health of human life. The basic research capability of the medical disciplines not only restrict the development of the innovative ability in medical science and technology field, but also is an important factor affecting the promotion of colleges and universities in research level and ability in medical science. The National Natural Science Fund, since its foundation in 1986, has made great achievements in supporting of basic research in medicine disciplines, promoting the construction of basic medical subjects, and cultivating excellent and science-innovative talents in this field. Meanwhile, our country takes the National Natural Science Fund as the main route to fund universities’ basic medical research, and the data about the obtainments of the National Natural Science Fund can directly reflect the level and science-competitive power of a university and a region in basic research of medical science.Based on the perspective of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a statistical analysis of the basic research ability of medical disciplines in the colleges and universities of the six provinces of the Mid China is made by adopting such methods as documentary research method, comparative approach and statistical analysis method and choosing data of the colleges and universities in six provinces of the Mid China, which refer to the item category of medical science, the number of projects, financing amount, the distribution of advantageous disciplines, the output of scientific and technological papers and the times they are cited. The conclusion can be made that 1. National funds present varied characteristics; 2There are significantly positive correlation between funds subsidized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the achievements in the basic research of medical disciplines by the colleges and universities in six provinces of the Mid China.3. The basic research ability of medical disciplines by the colleges and universities in six provinces of the Mid China is rising as a whole, meanwhile the differences are obvious. The basic research ability of the colleges and universities in the provinces of Hubei and Hunan is significantly higher than that of the other four provinces. 4. Oncology, basic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine etc. are in the frontier of the basic research of medical disciplines in the colleges and universities in six provinces of the Mid China, which will exist for a long time.The design about the further development of this study: 1. A further collection of data about various disciplines in colleges and universities in the six provinces of the Mid China will be made to increase research comprehensiveness. 2. I will do my best to make a comprehensive study on the development of various disciplines funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China in colleges and universities at the national level and make a further deep research on the relation between basic research capacity of various disciplines of colleges and universities in different levels and knowledge production capacity.
