With the accelerated popularization of higher education in China, The number of college students entering the labor market has increased every year. The phenomenon of diploma devaluation is more and more serious and college graduates have a lot of pressure for employment. Employment problem for college graduates has become the focus and hotspot issues to the researchers. The starting salaries of graduates can reflect the intention, quality and satisfaction for employment. In this paper, to study how family background affects the starting salary and employment for college graduates. Collected the data of college graduates expecting starting salaries and the actual starting salaries,then analysis their employment situation. Find the mechanism of the college graduates family background how to influence the starting salary. And make reasonable suggestions for the college graduates.In this paper, the research objects are the college students who will be graduates in 2015 in the 6 universities of Beijing. Use the methods of qualitative and quantitative research, literature research and fieldwork research to study the starting salary. Analysis the effect of family background on college graduates starting salary. This thesis consists of 5 sections. Section 1 describes the background, purpose, meaning and research methods of the study. And finish the literature review report. Section 2 summarizes the mainly theoretical research. Section 3 analyzes and discusses the results of the data. Section 4 studies the family background on starting salary mechanism use the data results. Section 5 concludes the results of empirical research and puts forward the reasonable suggestions. Through the analysis of the data, this research mainly found that:(1) In the family economic background, father’s wages were no obviously significant impact for expecting starting salary and actual starting salary. but has a slight difference in the expecting starting salary.(2) In the family cultural background, the parents’ education level has no obviously significant impact for expecting starting salary.(3) In the family political background, the fathers’ executive level and positions have obviously significant impact for expecting starting salary, but no significant impact for actual starting salary. And fathers’ positions have influence on the actual employment unit of college students.(4) In the family social background, social contact and social status have obviously significant impact for expecting starting, but only social contact has influence on the actual starting. The more frequently contact is, the higher actual starting salary they will get.
