A Study On The Graduates' Salary Situation Of Beijing Sport University

With the popularity of China's higher education development, the number of university graduates is rising each year. A survey shows that, in recent years, graduates'salary has declined. In 2009, some graduates have proposed a zero wage employment. The problem on employment of college students has become increasingly prominent. Graduates'salary as the most direct return on education investment and the most direct reflect of employment quality has increasingly become the focus of social attention.Beijing Sport University is an institution of higher learning for sports'professionals. Since the school was set up in 1953, for more than 50 years, it has cultivated a large number of sports talents. With the development of sports undertakings in China and the enhancement of people's awareness to fitness, the demand for sports talents is increased. The graduates of Beijing Sport University have increased year by year, and the salary level of graduates becomes the most concern to the students. Therefore, this thesis paper does research on the 2007-2009 graduates'salary and expected salary from graduates of Beijing Sport University, by way of literature materials,questionnaire,comparative analysis,interviews and so on. The results are as follows:1. The year 2007th and 2008th graduates mainly work in enterprises,universities and sports institutions. The salary of people who work for the government,public institutions is higher than that of private enterprise employees and freelancers; Compared with the year 07th, the 08th regional flows from east to west. In the eastern part of Shanghai, Guangdong and other places, the salary of the graduates'is higher than western areas.2. Salary expectation of year 07th and 08th graduates from Beijing Sport University are rather higher which lies in middle level in respect of annual income. The actual salary expectation of year 07th and 08th graduates from Beijing Sport University is lower than expected value and the present annual income is mainly between RMB 20,000 and 40,000 which is higher than national average level of graduates with different majors.3. The expectation value for employment of year 09th graduates which is higher than that of year 08. Part of 09th graduates lay higher expectation to employment. Journalist and civil servants with higher salary are their ideal job hunting goals. They focus their monthly salary expectation on RMB 2001-3000 which is higher than national average expectation level.4. The following elements affect the salary level of graduates from Beijing Sport University:attribute and area of the employment units, situation in supply and demand market, gender, family background and social working experience. Meanwhile, degree, reputation of the university, self ability, and social relationship also has some influence to employment. To some extent, the value held by the graduates, family economic condition, grasp on employment information, psychological expectation and so on also have some effect to the expected salary for graduates.5. The suggestions are as follows:First, Graduates should establish a long-term salary concept of development, have a good job mentality,serious working attitude and professionalism. Second, The University should set up career guidance and career planning courses, explore career guidance curriculum actively. Career center should perfect the employment services.
