In the 21 st century, the English learners have paid much more attention to the importance of the vocabulary acquisition. The language input plays an important role in second language acquisition. The word forgetting becomes the big problem in vocabulary memory. The research into the area of vocabulary acquisition strategy becomes the value issue abroad and at home, English teachers are faced with the challenge of how to help students apply vocabulary learning strategies.Based on the theory of memory and forgetting in cognitive psychology, this study promotes the word repetition strategy in the junior school English vocabulary teaching, to research the influence of word repetition and frequency on English vocabulary learning, and the effects on discourse. In combination with teaching practice and investigation before, this empirical study of word repetition learning strategies was carried out in a Junior School. 40 students in Kunming No.21 Middle School attended the investigation. In the study the author tried to accomplish the objectives with the following steps: first of all, probing the correlation between the vocabulary memory time and the learners’ words forgetting; secondly, investigation the strategy of increasing word repetition rates, and its effects on English learners’ vocabulary memorizing; and finally, proposing some strategies for increasing word repetition rates which affect English learners’ vocabulary learning. The author made the conclusion that increasing repetition rate has significant effects on second language vocabulary acquisition, and there is correlation between the vocabulary acquisition and the vocabulary frequency. By means of persistent training in classroom for half a year, many students improved their vocabulary learning methods and became interested in vocabulary learning.
