With a rapid development in science and technology,devices with modern information technology have been gradually introduced to English teaching in middle schools as a tool.Mintel Memory Engine(MintelEnglish)has become one of the important vocabulary teaching means in middle schools.The ways to assist students to improve vocabulary learning skills and memorizing efficiently with the aid of MintelEnglish have been the top priority for the teachers.In the absence of relevant empirical researches in border areas which suffer from poverty and relatively poorscience and technology,this paper puts forward the study on the auxilary application of Mintel English to English vocabulary teaching in junior high schools”.On the basis of constructivist learning theory and Ebbinghaus' forgetting curve,the paper is to find out some proper ways to improve vocabulary teaching through MintelEnglish in middle schools and stimulate students' interest in learning English and enhancing the efficiency in vocabulary learning and memorizing.In the study,a Mintel English teaching pilot for one semester in two parallel classes in Grade Seven was carried out in Lida Middle School in Funing county,Wenshan Zhuang autonomous prefecture.There is an experimental class and a controlled class.This paper uses the Statistical Product and Service Solutions17.0(SPSS17.0)software and analyzes the pre-test and post-test performances of vocabulary quizzes and two final test performances of united setting examination in Funing county.Such a conclusion can be drawn that MintelEnglish vocabulary teaching contributes to improving students' vocabulary learning,memorizing skills,and enhancing English test performance and motivating students' learning interest.The statistic results prove that the combination of MintelEnglish and conventional teaching methods can be adopted in middle school vocabulary teaching.Besides,Mintel English vocabulary teaching is of practical guiding significance in vocabulary learning and memorizing for minority students in border areas.
