The number and shape are two of the oldest and most basic study object in mathematics. As the American graph theory scholar Harry said, “The picture is worth a thousand words ". By combining number and shape which is one of the most important mathematical way of thinking, you can make complex issues simple, and abstract problems specific. Mr. Hua also said: It’s less Intuitive when it is lack of shape, and it’s difficult to find the nuances when it’s lack of number. This method that combining number and shape is fabulous, everything cracks when number and shape are separated. This sentence reveals dialectical relationship of number and shape and its profound importance of combining them. Combining number and shape, as a way of thinking, it is a mathematical sense that helps us to cognize and solve mathematical problems. Mathematical thinking works for your whole life, even when mathematical knowledge has been forgotten.The implementation of the new curriculum standards for primary school mathematics teachers need change the concept and gradually cultivate the awareness of the importance of mathematical thinking the accumulation of basic experience,and it is also necessary to improve their professional quality in mathematics so as to implement the four basic goal. This research focus on the core proposition of the combination of number theory from the theory and practice of the two aspects of the thesis.In the introduction part, the paper explains the background and significance of the research through the literature review and analysis to explain our research ideas and methods. In the first chapter,the paper expounds the connotation and characteristics of the number and shape combination. In the second chapter,the paper expounds the teaching value and function. In the third chapter, the paper analysis the application of the number and shape in the practice. In the fourth chapter, the paper discusses the specific strategies of the application of the mathematics teachers in the classroom. At last, the paper gives some teaching advises according to experiments.The core issue of this study is to help math teachers at primary school to improve teaching quality; to raising students’ interests in studying, making it an important problem-solving methods and learning methods for students.
