Influenced by traditional customs and languages, solving mathematical word problems has been a great difficulty for middle school students of minorities in various regions to learn mathematics for many years, thus hindering students’ interest in learning mathematics, which is not conducive to cultivating students’ application ability of mathematical theories. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to use teaching materials as a basis, edit the situations of mathematical word problems close to the real life of students, and look for the most simple and convenient methods for solving word problems in order to cultivate students’ abilities of solving, analyzing and independently thinking about problems as well as applying mathematical knowledge.In this paper, the first chapter introduces the research significance, necessity and methods of this paper title. The second chapter discusses some concepts related to the title and the research status of this title at home and abroad so as to conclude the development situation and research value of this title. The third chapter makes an actual survey of minority students, and this survey is made through various methods including questionnaire, test, interview, and discussion to ensure the authenticity of these data actually collected because all of the conclusions will be false if these data are not real. What students really think about in their heart should be attached importance to in interviews since the actual existing problems will not be figured out only by questionnaires or tests. The fourth chapter makes an analysis according to the data collected in the third chapter, then finds out the existing problems in middle school students of minorities solving mathematical word problems, and finally proposes appropriate countermeasures.The basic idea adopted in this paper is to use a combination of various methods such as information consultation, interview, discussion, and classroom observation based on the questionnaire method to have a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the influence factors of middle school students of minorities in rural areas solving mathematical word problems, get the first-hand data, then make an analysis and demonstration, draw conclusions and finally put forward the corresponding countermeasures.
