Social Identity Research About The Living Condition Of Gay’s Wife

As a vulnerable group in secret, the social identity of Gay’s wife is essential. Self category of Gay’s wife has great significance on their self-reflection and marriage, the social category formed the external survival environment of this group. This research attempts to understand the dilemma of Gay’s wife are trapped, and to explore the social recognition about their life condition, in order to arouse the whole society’s understanding and concerning of Gay’s wife, promote relevant departments to perfect legislation and set up more organazations.This study combines qualitative research method and quantitative research methods, mainly uses the virtual field research method, questionnaire survey method,content analysis.By long-term participatory observing on internet platform of Gay’s wife, recording the group’s words and deeds, choosing 10 typical cases for depth interview, distributing 509 copies of questionnaire to collect public cognition and attitude of their life condition, using the Internet search engine to collect nearly five years’ 353 news of Gay’s wife, using SPSS software and content analysis method to obtain the experience materials for data analysis and draw relevant conclusions.This research combining the empirical research and theoretical research, using the social identity theory and the living condition theory as the theoretical framework, from private sector and public sector to describe and analyze the internal social identity of Gay’s wife, at the same time,from both the public and media path to analyze the external social identity about living condition of Gay’s wife. This study have found that Gay’s wife has a long period physical repression and serious psychological identity crisis, lacking of care and love, facing the threaten of domestic violence and the AIDS.Whether in marriage or divorce, the corresponding rights are difficult to get legal protection.They are subject to the Chinese traditional culture, dare not loudly appeal,trapped for the children humiliation, living condition is very worrying.Gay’s wife through the network virtual achieve social interactions with homogeneous population,so as to continuously self-categorization, clear group membership,the group identity formed and became stable.Opinion about living condition of Gay’s wife give priority to with positive social identity,most people heard of Gay’s wife and held the attitude of compassion, support, willing to help,etc.The news media has given priority to their living condition with positive report, AIDS threat, family violence, suicide, and divorce related rights got more concerned, the attitude in reports tend to be sympathy,encouragement and protection,etc.
