Tires are important parts of the vehicle. While the vehicle is moving, in addition to thegravity and air resistance, nearly all the forces and moments which change the vehiclerunning status are produced by the interaction between tires and road surface. The mechanicalcharacteristics of tire are most associated with vehicle dynamics. In the current simulationstudy, the tire models are mainly steady state models and cannot describe the tire s dynamiccharacteristics accurately. For these reasons, the linking of dynamic tire model withsimulation software has important significance to the vehicle dynamics simulation.First of all, based on review of the development of the tire model and friction model, theLuGre tire model which can accurately describe the steady state and dynamic characteristicsof tires is chosen as the study subject in this paper. The modeling mechanism andinput/output relationship of the LuGre tire model is well studied. Secondly, the interfacebetween the tire model and vehicle dynamics software CarSim is analyzed, and based on thetire test data, the static and dynamic parameters of two-dimensional LuGre tire model areidentified, and the model robustness with the influence of parameters fitting error andchanging of test conditions is analyzed respectively. Finally, based on the identifiedparameters of LuGre tire model, the LuGre tire model is built in Matlab/Simulink software.According to the input and output parameters which are set in the interface between CarSimand Simulink, the linking of LuGre tire model and vehicle dynamic software CarSim is done.After parameters setting in CarSim, a collaborative simulation between CarSim and Simulinkcan be implemented. Also, a simulation verification is done to test the accuracy of thecollaborative simulation model. The results show that the LuGre tire collaborative simulationmodel can work exactly for the vehicle dynamics simulation.
