City is an important part of the modern society. In the development of a city, itneeds to improve the “hardware” and the “soft power” in order to cope with theopportunities and challenges of globalization and information. In the new media era,new media become a major information dissemination media, which the approachesand contents have a lot of changes and the roles of both sides of informationdissemination are not the same as before. In this context, the image of the city is theinvisible “soft power” of a city, which can enhance civic cohesion andcompetitiveness. Then it can promote the sustainable development of city.As the provincial capital of Jiangxi Province, Nanchang has a relatively lowpopularity and reputation. Nanchang is short of effective dissemination of the city’simage in the new media environment. For this reasons, this paper try to analyze theimage status of Nanchang through using questionnaires and literatures. And in thispaper, writer want to find some effective new media ways to create and promote anew beautiful image of Nanchang.
