The Research On The Service Of County-level Public Library

The library cause has been developing at an amazing speed since the advent of the new era. Take the public library for instance. With the appearance of large and huge library architecture and the introduction of advanced technological equipment, the public library has enjoyed a big increase regarding to the funding, amount of the books and the service, achieving a great success winning the social attention. Moreover, it has caused successively revolution within several dimensions like conceptual level, management system and service model. As for the public library of county-level, the picture could be more complicated. Owing to tihe different economic condition and government emphasis, the county public libraries present a quite disparate panorama.Considering the situation mentioned above, this paper takes a public library in Jiangan district, Wuhan city for example. After a serious field research about the current service situation, the paper summarizes five problems. The first is the short of funding has been universal. Secondly, the ability of literature service is relative inadequate. Thirdly, the service standard and the future plan is blur, if not absent. The last two are low level of service and short of extension service. Then the author concludes reasons explaining the problems like the constraints of system structure, lacking in concept of overall picture, imbalance of resource distribution, the underdeveloped technology and the unqualified faculty.Based on all the problems and reasons, the author puts forward four suggestions hoping to better the condition. First, specify the particular purpose and service dimension of the county-level public library. Second, improve the external surroundings and faculty system with more attention from the authority. Third, better the interior settings. Last but not the least, refresh the service model. With all the hearted advice and best regards, I hope the paper could contribute to the improvement of the service quality, making the public library function to its largest probability.
