The rapid development of the computer network, create favorable conditions for development of digital multimedia technology, especially for the development of digital video. However, open Internet makes digital media content can be copied and transmitted, this caused a huge loss to the media maker, which restricts the further development of digital multimedia applications. As an effective method of copyright protection and covert communication, people pay a great attention on video information hiding technology. In recent years, with the rapid development of video encoding, the compression video is usually transmitted and stored. Therefore, the existing video information hiding algorithms are usually combined with related video decoding technology. H.264/AVC video encode standard has gained widespread attention for its high coding efficiency, and fault tolerance ability, and strong adaptability, and the advantages of the image transmission excellent quality. Thus, it has been one of the research focuses in the field of information security in study compressed video information hiding technology based on H.264/AVC.In this paper, according to the H.264/AVC video encoding standard, the steganography algorithm for video based on intra-prediction has been studied in this paper. The main work is as follows:A data hiding algorithm of low bitrate growth for H.264 video is proposed, the author considers the intra prediction coding features of the H.264/AVC standard. Secret data are embedded by modifying the intra prediction modes of the qualified intra 4×4 luma blocks, during the processes of intra prediction. This modulation is based on the mapping rules formed by the dominant edge strength of host 4x4 luma blocks, so that avoiding the fast increasing of the video stream’s bitrate. At the same time, by utilizing the matrix coding, four watermark bits are hidden by quantifying one intra-4x4 block’s mode. The detection of hidden information merely requires decoding the intra prediction modes from bit stream rather than decoding the whole video. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the capacity of hidden information and ensure the quality of video, also avoid the rapid growth of the bitrate effectively.A video information hiding algorithm of controllable capacity for H.264/AVC is proposed. Based on improved matrix coding as embedded rules, candidate macroblocks are as a part of the key to improve the security of the algorithm. At the same time, the usefulness of the mapping rules formed by the dominant edge strength of host 4x4 luma blocks can increase the hiding capacity, namely, k watermark bits are hidden by quantifying intra-4×4 block’s modes. Experimental results show that the proposed method can control the capacity and ensure a good visual quality of video. Furthermore, the bit rate of growth is lower than other algorithms under the same capacity.
