With the rapid development of computer science and single-chip microcomputer technologies, the new opportunities have been brought for traditional manufacturing.For the garment manufacturing, some real-time data, such as processing progress data,the status of hangers, et al., can be collected with the help of single-chip microcomputer technologies. Then all of the data can be uploaded onto the information management of assembly line based on computer via RS485, which would allow manager to react quickly and replan the production schedules in time. In this case, the monitoring and efficiency of production line could be bettered substantially.In this paper, according to processing techniques of cloth, the intelligent control system in garment production line consisting of fixed number of workstations as lower computers and PC as upper computer is proposed. The paper mainly finishes the following works:Firstly, the management system of production line based on computer is the key objective of this paper. The real-time data is exchanged between master computer and slave computers. In addition, collected data need to be calculated, categorized, saved in the master computer. Finally, each cloth is completed through the dispatching of upper computer. Visual Studio 2010 is used to develop foreground user management interface and SQL Server 2008 is used to build the database for the garment production line.Secondly, cyclic redundancy check is used in the communication protocol which is designed according to practical needs between master computer and lower computer in order to increase the stability and integrity of data stream.Thirdly, each workstation has own controller which has four properties: station for preparing, station for processing, station for managing, station for checking. The principle, functions, characteristics of controller are shown in this paper from the aspects of the design of hardware and software.The system has a good debugging performance in the laboratory and accommodates the requirements of processing of cloth, which reveals that this system is a kind of high-efficiency and feasible scheme. The improvements of this design are proposed in the end of this paper, such as, changing the communication method ofRS485 into the communication of Zig Bee, facilitating scheduling techniques of production line and so on.
